
NCBL BOARD COMMITTEES
NCBL ANNUAL CONFERENCE PROGRAM PLANNING COMMITTEE
The NCBL Annual Program Planning Committee charged with planning and organizing a program for the conference, including panels, speakers, special guests, and special events, such as receptions and dinners.
The committee will see that invitations and confirmation letters are sent to panelists, presenters and keynote speaker on the program as well as thank you letters.
Choosing a theme is closely associated with the program and has traditionally been the function of this committee.
The mission of NCBL’s Communications Committee is an extension of NCBL’s mission.
The Committee is charged with facilitating internal and external communication activities of the organization as a way to share information among current members, recruit new members, update means of communicating with members, and establish professional standards of engagement that are in line with the organization’s mission, goals, and objectives.
The Committee will use a range of resources, including E-News, newsletters, website design and content, and will collect, disseminate and archive information that is important to NCBL members, and the communities it serves.
The Communications Committee reports to the NCBL Board of Directors.

The National Conference of Black Lawyers Fundraising Committee will be comprised of one Board Member and at least five (5) volunteer dues-paying members.
The Fundraising Committee function includes building relationships, developing an annual fundraising plan, and raising money to meet the specific programmatic goals and objectives of the organization.
The Fundraising Committee will meet quarterly or sooner as necessary.
The Fundraising Committee reports to the NCBL Board of Directors.
The NCBL Logistics Committee is charged with locating a retreat hotel and other facilities and services that may be required as the program is developed.
The NCBL Logistics Committee will identify a hotel and report to the NCBL Board of Directors on the overall quality of the facility, sleeping rooms, meeting rooms, food, and beverages, audiovisual, and will be the point person(s) for communications with the hotel or any other services engaged.

ANNE MITCHELL is a retired Union Organizer and Contract Negotiator representing hospital workers, and staff of non-profit organizations.
Anne first met and worked with members of NCBL in the early 1970’s during the international movement to Free Angela Davis.
Shortly after Angela Davis’ acquittal, the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression was founded with a focus on, but not limited to, freeing all political prisoners.
Through the Alliance, Anne worked in NC with NCBL on the Rev. Ben Chavis and The Wilmington 10, and The Charlotte 3 freedom campaigns, and the Joann Little case.
In the 1980’s Anne was 1 of 3 NCBL’ers who spent weeks in Mississippi working on the Eddie Carthan trial.
A few years later she was part of a NCBL delegation who went to Mississippi to do poll watching for a presidential election.
