01 REPARATIONS: FROM CONCEPT TO REALITY!
The Reparation Project presents an exciting new Reparations 101 resource: "REPARATIONS: From Concept to Reality!" This succinct video is designed for broad audiences to introduce viewers to the issue of reparations. Feel free to share widely.
02 WHY REPARATIONS MATTERS
This video from the National Conference of Black Lawyers explores the urgent need for reparations for Black people in America. Speakers like AA Auro, Shirley Traylor, and Deborah Jackson emphasize the historical context of slavery and ongoing systemic injustices that necessitate reparations, going beyond financial compensation to acknowledge past harms and work towards healing.
They highlight the growing momentum of the reparations movement and encourage viewers to join the fight for racial justice by advocating for reparations at all levels.
05 AVAILABILITY OR RACE-SPECIFIC REMEDIES
Two constitutional law experts engage with the NCBL Reparations Research Project team on the question of whether the United States Supreme Court decisions on providing special programs based on race still allow for the implementation of a reparations program for Black people of African descent. The experts share some common views and also, they have some differences in approach.
06 REPARATIONS LITIGATION
An attorney who has been on the legal teams of both Tulsa massacre cases and who is also a law school professor, discusses reparations litigation cases. He provides insights into the legal standards that were used by the courts in deciding the cases. He highlights the importance of having strong community activism in support of reparations if a case is going to be filed.
