Amadi Umi
NCBL BOARD MEMBER
Originally hailing from Southern Maryland, AMADI UMI (she/her/hers) is a rising 3L studying at North Carolina Central University School of Law.
Determined to explore her growing appreciation of the law, Amadi got her paralegal certification at 18. Hungry for more, she went on to graduate from Salve Regina University’s 5-year program, earning a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in administration of justice with a concentration in leadership.
Throughout her educational career, Amadi has sought opportunities to apply her knowledge of social justice to her community; organizing Black Lives Matter marches as part of the black student union and engaging in programs designed to connect low-income students of color with the resources a private university has to offer.
In the year between her master’s degree and first year of law school, Amadi worked as a Family Centered Treatment practitioner, providing intensive therapy to families in the reunification process or on the brink of separation.
Now, Amadi hopes to use her zeal for the law, drive for equity, and ability to encourage thoughtful community connection to serve as a representative of the North Carolina Chapter of NCBL. When she has spare time, Amadi loves spending it with her husband Daniel and her dog Goji.
