Whitley Carpenter

WHITLEY CARPENTER is the Senior Criminal Justice Counsel & Policy Manager at Forward Justice, a law, policy, and strategy center dedicated to advancing racial, social, and economic justice in the US South.

Her work regularly reflects her strong commitment to advocating for and uplifting the voices of oppressed and systemically disenfranchised communities.

Whitley graduated from NC State University in 2012 with a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Political Science and later received her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2015.

Since joining the NCBL, Whitley has helped to launch and build the North Carolina chapter alongside amazing activists. She helped plan the NCBL 2019 regional conference in Raleigh, NC, has served on the NCBL National Board of Directors as Secretary, and most recently as Treasurer.
